The Berkeley Energy and Resources Collaborative (BERC) is a multidisciplinary network of UC Berkeley students, alumni, faculty, and industry professionals founded in 2006. Our mission is to connect, educate, and engage our members to address our planet’s most pressing energy and resource challenges. BERC is entirely student-run, organized by a dedicated Leadership Team, and spans 11 colleges and 28 departments across UC Berkeley.
We plan and host a variety of conferences and events across the year, including the annual Energy Summit and Resources Symposium (hosted each spring and fall, respectively), monthly “BERCshop” panels, the Clean Energy Speaker Series course at the Haas School of Business, and the annual Climate Change 101 event for Berkeley students.
Our partnership with the Energy Institute at Haas gives us access to programs such as Cleantech to Market (C2M) for climate start-ups and the Berkeley Innovative Solutions consulting group, providing our members opportunities to engage with cutting-edge research and current industry applications.
Additional activities organized by BERC include:
- Climate dinners for members
- Buddy program to match current students to industry professionals
- Monthly blog covering climate tech at Berkeley
- Treks to Bay Area companies in the energy and resources space
- Social events and happy hours
If you’re interested in getting involved with BERC, as a student, faculty member, or industry professional, please see our resources for joining BERC. And if you’d like to support our organization, we encourage you to consider donating or becoming a sponsor.
