Proposal Writing and Lobbying in Copenhagen this December
Hello friends,
I am looking for climate change policy
students or faculty in GSPP, ERG, ARE, law or any related department to
work with me on writing some lobby papers or proposals to bring with me
to the UNFCCC Conference of Parties-15 in Copenhagen this December.
I work for an NGO based in Bonn, Germany called CDM Watch
where we analyze Clean Development
Mechanism decisions by the CDM Executive Board and assessing whether
passed projects actually contribute to sustainable development in
host countries among other things.
The goal is to
prepare such paper proposals, whether it be reasons
why US should get more involved in CDM projects and other reasons for
supporting such and such clean tech investments, written on behalf of
UC Berkeley's climate change savvy departments as academic advice to EPA representatives
and to other delegations that will be there. US's participation in
adopting a reformed CDM may get us "reformed CER credits" that will
help reach our country's potential GHG reduction targets.
It
would be ideal to go up to EPA reps and the US delegation and say
something like "The Waxman-Markey Bill is a start, but there's more to
policy than domestic cap and trade...UC Berkeley cares and this is what
we suggest you pass within the next 11 days."
Email me at krystalslin@gmail.com if this sounds fun or history changing to you.
Kindness to the cosmos,
