BERC @ Haas
WHO WE ARE
BERC @ Haas is the business school arm of BERC. Our goal is to make UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business the nation's leading business school for energy and resources research, entrepreneurship, and career development.
Our activities focus on expanding curriculum offerings, strengthening the school's alumni and professional network, and promoting energy and resources-related events and discussions. Our members have diverse interests, including:
- Cleantech (renewable energy, advanced biofuels and energy efficiency)
- Utilities
- Oil and gas
- Emissions regulations and allowance trading
- Project finance, private equity and venture capital
- Water resource management
- Waste management
WHAT WE DO
BERC @ Haas aspires to be a one-stop-shop for students seeking job opportunities in the rapidly emerging fields of energy, clean technology (cleantech), and resource management. We work directly with account managers and career coaches from the Haas Career Services Office to develop and maintain relationships with leading and emerging firms. Our Career Guide provides a basic overview of our target industries and advice for prospective job seekers. We organize company treks and plant tours with Bay Area companies.
The Energy and Cleantech Firm Night is BERC@Haas' flagship career event. The first Firm Night drew 16 leading companies and startups and over 80 MBA attendees. Our second Firm Night is scheduled for Monday, February 22, 2010. Interested sponsors and companies may contact Leo Carrillo.
We also host student-professional social events, and sponsor panel discussions and speakers that focus on provocative issues related to the fields. BERC@Haas organizes a renewable energy speaker series at the Haas School of Business during the latter half of the fall semester.
