BERC Leadership Team Retreat 2012
This past weekend the BERC Leadership Team headed down to Santa Cruz for our 2012 annual planning retreat. The team had the opportunity to share goals and ideas, plan major events, and have some fun in the process! There was an incredible amount of excitement about the superb events, programs, and opportunities for the upcoming year. The retreat also featured the unveiling of Windy the Wind Turbine, our official BERC mascot. Be on the lookout for him at BERC events throughout the year.
We are pleased to announce a number of new initiatives and objectives for the year. This week marks the unveiling of BERCshops, a weekly event series aimed at creating conversations around energy and resource issues. Also happening this week is Resources Roundtable, a BERC Flagship Event aimed at bringing out the “R” in BERC. This year it will be focusing on electronic waste.
Another one of our approaching Flagship Events is the Berkeley-Stanford Cleantech Conference (BSCC) on April 12 at the Stanford campus. The theme this year is "Cleantech in Emerging Markets," and we are very excited to be partnering with Stanford Energy Club for this great event! There are still opportunities to volunteer if you'd like to get involved.
One thing we are all committed to this year is customizing the BERC experience for our population. To get this process started, we ask that you join BERC and set up a website profile. It is as simple as going to the BERC website and clicking the "Join" button on the top right corner and then filling out your details under "Settings". Whether you are new or have been with BERC for some time, we hope to see you at some of our events throughout the year. Our first happy hour is this Thursday February 16th at 6:30 at Thalassa in Downtown Berkeley following the inaugural BERCshop discussion.
