Breakthrough using e. coli to produce transportation fuels
Researchers with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)’s Joint BioEnergy Institute (JBEI) have engineered the first strains of Escherichia coli bacteria that can digest switchgrass biomass and synthesize its sugars into gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel.

JOB: Lawrence Berkeley National Lab - Scientific Engineering Associate
This position will support Scientists within the Electricity Markets and Policy group and the broader Energy Analysis department by developing a broad array of energy/environmental/economic models and database platforms in order to solve a broad array of challenging technical and policy issues.
